Many who like vintage watches are often looking for that unique piece that’s both seldom seen in the wild and interesting or unconventional in its own right. Right along with the ethos of watchmaking as the 60s turned to the 70s, Omega developed the unique Chronostop and its many variations, with the Driver you see here being one of them. Designed to be worn under the wrist, the watch aimed to provide a unique experience to the wearer with a 90 degree rotated dial for readability at a glance with the wearer’s hands on the wheel. The stopwatch type movement, rather than a traditional chronograph, made timing short intervals a breeze. The pusher is depressed to start the chronograph, and pressed (and held) to stop the chronograph and read the time. Upon the pusher’s release, the seconds hand will reset to zero. Although the Chronostop was produced for a number of years throughout its many variations, the Driver models can be harder to come across, which is why we’re proud to offer this one. Case: 35mm stainless steel case in good condition with minor wear throughout including various scratches and nicks on the case surface and sides, please see the photos for the best description of the case. Dial/Hands: Original dial and handset in mint condition. The dial shows no spotting or discoloration and is a beautiful off-white color with a racing style printed minute and second track. Hands are original black with patinated tritium. The chronograph seconds hand is red. Hour and minute hands show minor paint flaking near the base as shown.  Caseback:  Solid caseback in good condition, Crystal: Acrylic crystal in good condition with surface wear as shown in the photos, including a shallow chip. Movement: Original Caliber 865 hand wound 60 second chronograph movement in excellent condition with the watch keeping good time and all functions working as they should. Bracelet/Strap:  Rare original Omega mesh bracelet with signed clasp as shown. The bracelet is adjustable for up to an 8" wrist. Accessories: None. Sold as watch only. I
