Super compressors have become their own niche in the watch collecting world. EPSA’s now legendary dual crown design was used over three decades in a wide range of brands, from Universal Geneve and Jaeger-Lecoultre to the Benrus you see here. That common lineage and heritage is a major part of what makes super compressor cases so special today. The watch uses a unique method of resisting water ingress by designing the case to squeeze in on itself as outside pressure is exerted, hence the compressor name.
The watch you see here is manufactured by American company Benrus, with a freshly serviced ETA 2472 automatic movement ticking away inside the legendary ESPA case. All of the signature super compressor signs are there, including the original cross hatched crowns and diving helmet inscribed on the caseback. The original internal bezel offers a secure way to time events by using the upper crown, reducing the chance of accidental rotation as is possible with typical external bezels. The original dial and cathedral style hands offer maximum legibility inside the 36mm case, and the dial’s tritium hour plots have faded to a wonderful patina.

Condition is per the photos and as follows:
Case: 36mm EPSA super compressor diver case in good vintage condition with minor wear throughout. There are a number of small nicks and dings in the case consistent with years of wear as shown in the photos.
Bezel: Original internal bezel operated by the top crown in excellent condition as shown with smooth operation.
Dial and hands: Original dial and hand set. Dial is in excellent condition with even creamy patina on the hour markers. Original cathedral hands appear to be relumed and are slightly lighter in appearance than the dial markers:
Crystal: Original acrylic crystal with date magnifier in good vintage condition. There are minor surface scratches on the acrylic surface but no gouges, chips, or cracks.
Movement: Freshly serviced ETA 2472 automatic movement with all functions working as they should. The watch keeps excellent time:
Bracelet: Vintage beads of rice bracelet sized for a 7.25" wrist.
Accessories: Sold as watch only. Diving helmet not included :)
