The Speedmaster is one of the most important watches ever made, and that importance has spurned a massive following. With that popularity came something in the Speedmaster line for everyone. Automatic models, racing variants, smaller sizes, but still with that Moonwatch DNA and clean design. In the mid 90s Omega released the Mark 40 Speedmaster, utitlizing an automatic chronograph movement but also including a 24 hour hand and a triple calendar. Packing the watch with functionality wasn’t enough though, as the Mark 40 was also given an extremely legible and colorful dial design, with splashes and accents of different bright colors, increasing both legibility and allure. The Arabic numerals done in tritium also provided great lume and a racing feel. The Mark 40 remains a rather under rated model in the Speedmaster lineup, but we think the popularity of these will pick up moving forward. Our Mark 40 is in excellent condition with all functions (and there are a bunch) working perfectly on its original bracelet and appears to be all original.   Case: 39mm case (exc. crown) in excellent condition with deep brushing on the case edges and bright polished lugs. The case appears to be unpolished and shows only minor wear as shown in the photos. Dial/Hands: Original dial and handset in mint condition. The dial shows no spotting or discoloration. The hour markers have developed to a wonderful creamy patina. Hour/min hands are original with a slightly lighter patina and all of the function hands are bright without fading. Caseback: Original Speedmaster snap caseback in excellent condition as shown. Crystal: Original acrylic crystal in good condition with minor wear. Omega symbol is still present in the center. 55 million serial number in the caseback indicates circa 1995 production. Movement: Omega caliber 1151 automatic chronograph calendar movement in excellent condition with the watch keeping excellent time and all functions working as they should. Bracelet/Strap: Original Omega bracelet excellent condition with minor wear on the links and clasp as shown. Bracelet is sized for a 7.25” wrist with no extra links. Accessories: None.
