The Rolex Submariner needs to introduction. It's one of the most important watches ever made, cemented in cool since James Bond first donned one in 1962's Dr. No. It's also the watch most enthusiasts have mentally correlated with the term "tool watch" and for good reason. Watches in the 1960s were built to be used hard and often while remaining reliable and Rolex has led that segment for decades. It helps that the balanced, uncluttered dial has become a watch design icon, copied by hordes over the years but never replicated with the charm and precision as the original. Now back to that whole tool thing. These watches were made to take a beating, and many of them had their fair share of mishaps before watches were considered solely a luxury product. Watches that have survived those times, living with the scars to tell their story for them, while retaining their original beauty, are what we love most about vintage watches. This 5513 is no exception. It's no safe queen, but it's retained all its DNA and has a wonderful vintage charm. The original matte meters first dial is still planted in the original, sharp case, with the former developing a wonderful and completely unique spotted "stardust" patina. The caliber 1520 movement inside is still beating away nearly 50 years after it was first assembled. Our 5513 is a great link to the past in a desirable configuration that is ready to be strapped on and enjoyed. The Hulk loves this vintage Rolex and you will too.
