Hublot has earned itself the reputation of making large and well, “unique”, watches that work well within a certain demographic; our average visitor not really being one of them. Fortunately, the Classic Fusion line presents a more conservative design while still retaining the sporty Hublot DNA. The variant featured here also features lumed Arabic numerals on the dial, a rare find that really adds to the sporty feel.
Let’s start with the case. At just under 42mm and with a very slim profile, the watch feels light and comfortable on the wrist with its curved lugs and grippy but soft rubber strap. The shape is the standard porthole influenced Hublot design with a flat, faceted bezel featuring a deep grained vertical brushing with 12 screws positioned at each hour holding it in place. One of the most interesting features of the case is the sheer number of flat surfaces at different angles. The bezel, the lugs, the “wings” on the case and the strap end links seem to catch and reflect light at any angle making for a very fun and mesmerizing wearing experience that’s impossible to really admire without the watch on your wrist.
The dial is another highlight that really makes the watch. It’s gloss black with bold lumed numerals and minimal text, leading to a very balanced and simple feel with outstanding legibility. The red outer minute track offers a welcome splash of color to break up the otherwise monochrome dial. The hands are faceted polished steel with large luminous inserts.
The rubber strap along with the signature Hublot end links helps to really bring the entire package together. It’s soft and smooth, and the adjustable deployant buckle is finished in the same vein as the case and with the same quality. The automatic SW300 based movement is nothing spectacular but keeps everything running smoothly with excellent timekeeping. Movement finishing is pretty industrial looking, and visible through the display back there is vertical brushing (seeing a theme here?) with some angled and polished edges on the bridges. Operation is smooth as can be with the screw down crown and quickset date working flawlessly.
The entire package is undeniably sporty, yet seemingly a contradiction; how can a slim, classy, balanced watch fit in with all those wild Bang and Unico models? It doesn’t, and that’s why we like it. We think you will too.
Condition is per the photos and as follows:
Case: 41.7mm stainless steel case in excellent condition with only minor surface scratching, mainly contained to the lugs as shown in the photos. Case appears to be unpolished and retains its factory finish texture and lines.
Bezel: Flat brushed steel bezel in excellent condition with only minor surface wear as shown in the photos.
Dial/Hands: Original black gloss dial and handset in mint condition. The dial is a rare Arabic numeral configuration where all numbers are lumed to match the hands. Hands are polished steel. Dial is free of any spotting, marks, or discoloration.
Caseback: Steel and sapphire see-through caseback in excellent condition as shown.
Crystal: Sapphire crystal in excellent condition with no scratching, chips, or cracks.
Movement: Hublot Swiss automatic movement in excellent working condition with all functions working as they should. The watch keeps excellent time.
