"The President's Watch."
That's a pretty freaking bold claim, and one that's tough to live up to. Fortunately, Rolex was able to live up to that claim, creating what is one of the most iconic precious metal watches of all time. While Rolex created the Day Date, the first watch to have both features, as a dress watch, there's no denying its usefulness as a tool. So when Tudor took the idea of the Day Date, switched the case to steel, blew it up to 38mm, added an A Schild cal. 1895 automatic movement, and added a rotating timing bezel, a dress watch icon was transformed into a sporty yet elegant piece right in line with the Rolex and Tudor heritage of creating quality tool watches. The Date Day Turnograph "Jumbo" is a sometimes overlooked piece of Tudor history as a lot of enthusiasts simply don't know of its existence, but they're just missing out.
This example of the Jumbo Turnograph is in excellent condition, and has the very rare 60 minute marker bezel which further enhances the sport look. Take a look at the photos and the condition description for more info on this great piece.
Case: 38mm case that has been previously polished in excellent condition. The case is extremely sharp with nice chamfers and only shows light surface wear. The Rolex signed crown screws down firmly. Serial number is 697XXX dating production to circa 1969.
Bezel: Rotating bezel in excellent condition with only very small spots of missing paint. The bidirectional bezel has full 60 minute demarcations, a rare variant. The toothed areas from 55-05 and 25-35 are still crisp.
Dial and Hands: Original dial and hand set in excellent condition with no spotting or discoloration. The lume plots have faded to a warm, even creamy patina as have the matching hands. The dial and hands will still glow briefly when exposed to a light source. The day and date wheels are original with heavy serif on the fonts.
Caseback: Very good vintage condition caseback marked "Original Oyster case by Rolex Geneva".
Crystal: Excellent condition plexi crystal with only minor surface wear. There are no chips or cracks in the crystal.
Movement: A. Schild Claiber 1895 automatic day + date movement in excellent condition with all functions working as they should including excellent timekeeping. Service history is unknown. The day and date are not "quickset" but can be "hack set". If you're unfamiliar with hack setting, just ask us!
Strap: A like new 20mm brown handmade vintage style strap with SS buckle is included.
Accessories: None. Sold as watch only.
