The Big Pilot is arguably IWC’s biggest icon. Born in the 40s as a true aviator’s watch, the brand decided to revive the Big Pilot line in 2002 while adding some modern upgrades, like a 7 day movement, automatic winding, power reserve and date displays, and a sapphire crystal. The large stainless steel case, sword hands, and large onion crown all remained as some of the most iconic traits of the classic Flieger style.
The 5009 reference of the Big Pilot was released in 2012 as an upgrade to the existing model, with an improved stronger winding mechanism and an increase in beat rate for better accuracy over the older 5002. This example of the 5009-01 is a one owner watch purchased from a US AD and comes complete with all accessories from new. The box, cardboard shipping box, manuals, warranty card, polishing cloth, and even the QC plastic wrap are all included. This watch was very well cared for and it shows, as it’s in outstanding condition down to the strap and buckle.

Case: 46mm stainless steel case in excellent condition as pictured. There are only sporadic very minor surface swirls and marks on the case, and no significant scratching or marks on the case.
Dial/Hands: Original flawless dial and hand set with great lume.
Caseback: Original caseback in excellent condition as pictured.
Crystal: Original sapphire crystal in perfect condition with no scratching and intact AR coating.
Movement: IWC Caliber 5111 automatic 7 day movement with power reserve and date indicators. The movement is in perfect operating condition, and winds, sets, and runs as it should.
Bracelet/Strap: OEM original black alligator leather strap with stainless deployant buckle. Both the strap and the buckle are in outstanding condition and look to be very seldom worn.
Accessories: The box, cardboard shipping box, manuals, warranty card dated 12/12, polishing cloth, and even the QC plastic wrap are all included.
