The Speedmaster Professional is forever linked with one of the most important moments in human history, and will rightfully have a place in just about every collector's wish list. Every 5 years, Omega commemorates their involvement in the Apollo space program and moon landing with a commemorative version of the legendary moonwatch. For the 20th anniversary in 1989, we saw the first commemorative model in stainless steel, the same material used by NASA astronauts in their expeditions. As part of the commemoration, Omega released only 2000 pieces in a limited, individually numbered edition, with the first 1000 pieces being numbered on the case side, and adding "Apollo XI 1969" along with the number for the other thousand pieces. These watches are naturally more scarce than the standard Professional model, which is why we're proud to offer this one owner example of a great limited series watch.
Condition is per the photos and as follows:
Case: 42mm case in very good condition with wear consistent with use and age. Brushed and polished services are respectively bright and crisp, with the serialized number very sharp and clearly visible. There is a small ding on the edge of the case on the 9 o'clock side as pictured.
Bezel: Original tachymetre bezel in excellent condition with only very minor wear on the bezel rim.
Dial/Hands: Original dial and hands in excellent condition with an extremely attractive, deep colored patina on the tritium hour markers. The original hands are also very clean with a slightly lighter patina.
Caseback: Original moonwatch caseback in very good condition with only minor wear and intact paint.
Crystal: Newly installed OEM Omega hesalite crystal with no scratching, chips, cracks, or marks.
Movement: Caliber 861 yellow plated movement in excellent condition. Movement is very clean and all functions work as they should, with the chronograph starting, stopping, and resetting to zero as expected. Movement is keeping good time. Service history is unknown.
Bracelet/Strap: Original desirable Omega 1450 bracelet in very good condition as pictured. The watch is sized for a 7.25" wrist on the fourth largest micro-extension.
Box/Papers/Accessories: None, sold as watch only.
