Like so many of Rolex's iconic models, the GMT Master was born out of necessity. In the early 1950s, Rolex collaborated with Pan-Am to develop a watch for commercial air pilots. With advancements in technology and longer flight times, pilots needed to be able to track changes in time zones along their routes. While modern pilots have other instrumentation to track time changes, the GMT Master has cemented itself as an immensely popular classic.
The reference 16753 embodies the spirit of the original GMT Master with the benefits of more modern technology, like the addition of a quickset date. This two-tone variant also features a beatuiful brown sunburst dial and two-colored bezel which has been coined the "root beer' over the years. This watch is in excellent, ready to wear condition with a comfortable Rolex gold and steel jubilee bracelet and a newly fitted OEM Rolex acrylic crystal.
Condition as follows:
Case: Excellent condition 40 mm stainless steel case with minor surface wear commensurate with use as shown in the photos. The gold crown is in excellent condition with a sharp coronet. The watch has a 6.7 million serial number indicating 1980 production.
Bezel: Original bidirectional 18kt gold bezel in very good condition with thick edges. Original root beer insert is in good condition with minor areas of wear as pictured. Bezel action is smooth.
Dial/Hands: Original tritium dial and hands in excellent condition with light patina as pictured. There is one small mark on the dial on the 12 o'clock side of the hand stack visible in the photos.
Caseback: Excellent condition original caseback with only minor wear as shown.
Crystal: Recently fitted OEM Rolex acrylic crystal in excellent condition.
Movement: Caliber 3175 Rolex Automatic GMT movement keeping excellent time. All functions work as they should. Service history is unknown.
Bracelet/Strap: OEM Rolex two tone jubillee bracelet. Bracelet shows stretch as shown and will fit large wrists.
Accessories: Watch comes with original inner and outer boxes, hang tags, and undated punched papers as pictured.
