The 105.012 is the same reference worn by the astronauts on the Apollo 11 mission, cementing the Speedmaster's legacy by becoming the first watch worn on the moon. With this significance, this watch has emerged as a very important Speedmaster reference and continues to be one of the most sought after vintage watches on the planet.
This 105.012-66 is almost entirely original with its signature stepped dial with wide-spaced "T"s, DON bezel and shorter "mushroom" pushers.
Take a look at the photos and our condition description below:
Case: 42mm stainless steel case in very good vintage condition. The case has been previously polished and the facets found on the CB cases are no longer visible. The case has minor nicks commensurate with wear but the case is overall very clean with crisp brushing and bright polished areas. The pushers are correct "mushroom" style and appear original to the watch with typical discoloration on the pusher tubes. The crown appears to be a service replacement.
Bezel: Original dot over 90 (DON) bezel in good condition with small spots of paint loss as pictured, and a small chip at the 61 marker.
Dial/Hands: Dial is original stepped tritium in excellent condition with mostly intact lume and is free of any staining or spotting. The hands are also original with the exception of the chrono sweep hand, which is a new replacement that has been sympathetically restored and (non-glowing) color matched to the original hands.
Caseback: Original 105.012-66 CB caseback in very good vintage condition as pictured with nice crisp engravings.
Crystal: Freshly installed OEM Omega hesalite crystal free of any scratching or marks.
Movement: Caliber 321 manual wound chronograph movement. Watch is running great with smooth winding and chrono operation. All functions work as they should including chronograph start, stop, and return to zero. 24.95 million serial number dates production to circa 1966. Service history is unknown.
Bracelet/Strap: New vintage style brown leather strap.
Accessories: None, sold as watch only.
