The Wakmann triple date chronograph is one of the best bang for your buck pieces in the vintage watch world. It's sporty, classy, and functional rolled into one, a combination usually means big bucks when it comes to vintage chronos, especially those equipped with the Valjoux 72C. But thankfully the Wakmann hasn't blasted off (yet), leaving it within reach of many collectors.
The watch we have here is a rare very early example, differing from most of its cousins by having large subdials and a unique handset. These larger subdial models almost never surface, and this extremely well preserved watch is a treat that would be a great addition to any collection.
Take a look at the photos and our condition description below:
Case: 36mm stainless steel case in excellent condition. There are sharp lines throughout with only minor surface wear as pictured, and the watch has its original signed crown and original pushers.
Dial/Hands: Excellent original dial and handset. The dial is free from any scratches or stains, and the subdials have their original unique leaf hands equipped. The hour markers are applied steel, and the subdials are stepped with circular finishing on the recessed areas, giving great depth to the dial.
Caseback: Original Gigandet signed caseback with all engravings present.
Crystal: Excellent condition acrylic crystal free from any major scratching, scuffs, chips, or cracks.
Movement: Valjoux 72c manual wound triple calendar chronograph movement. All functions work as they should, including chronograph start, stop, and reset to zero, as well as the month and date correctors (note that early V72Cs do not have a day corrector function). Service history is unknown but the watch is currently running great.
Bracelet/Strap: Brand new leather strap as pictured.
Accessories: None, sold as watch only.
