Jaeger-LeCoultre often flies under the radar, and a lot of their owners like it that way. So many of their watches have an elegant simplicity that translate into timeless design, and that's why the brand has been so revered by collectors for decades. It also helps that JLC is one of the few remaining true manufacturers, breaking ground with their own in-house movements (many of which have found their way into other brand's watches, such as Audemars Piguet), quality testing, and self-manufactured components. In doing things their own way, JLC has found a unique blend of technical watchmaking mastery and beautiful design that is seldom paralleled.
This JLC Master Control Triple Date calls back to the brand's history, being a modern watch in a modest, but modern, 37mm size, but has the appearance of those iconic triple date watches from the 1940s and 50s with all of the same styling cues; the red-tipped half moon date indicator around a printed date track, center-positioned calendar displays, and a thin bezel, highly polished case to let the sunburst-finished dial shine. But don't let appearances fool you. The watch is powered by the in-house JLC caliber 891, and this is a Master Control watch, meaning the movement must pass a thousand hour test before leaving the factory.
This example is in wonderful shape, retaining its original bright polished surfaces on the case and a perfect dial and hands. It also comes with the original box and warranty booklet.
Case: 37mm polished stainless steel case (exc. crown) in excellent condition with only very minor surface wear as shown.
Dial/Hands: Silver "sunburst" dial with polished hands and English calendar wheels. The dial and hands are free of any defects.
Caseback: Master Control caseback in excellent condition with minor surface swirls as shown. All engravings are crisp and present.
Crystal: Original sapphire crystal. There are two very minor marks on the crystal surface, most notably in between the "12" and "13" of the outer calendar ring, slightly visible in the photos under full zoom.
Movement: Original Caliber 861 hand wound chronograph movement in excellent condition with the watch keeping excellent time and all functions working as they should.
Bracelet/Strap: A new vintage style brown leather strap is mounted on the original JLC stainless steel deployant clasp. A light brown alligator strap is also included (not pictured).
Accessories: The original blue box as well as the (undated) warranty booklet are included.
