Despite being a lesser-known brand, Kelek was originally founded in 1896 and became a large chronograph manufacturer for the better part of a century. Kelek had a manufacuring relationship with Breitling for a number of years as a movement supplier and was eventually acquired by Breitling and has become their manufacturer for in-house Breitling Chronometre movements.
The watch pictured here is a 1970s diver's chronograph, with a solid steel case, gloss black dial, 60 minute rotating timing bezel, and an incredibly clean and reliable Landeron caliber 248 manual-wound movement. 70s Chronographs like this have their own distinct designs that have made them a staple among enthusiasts, and the supplies of watches like this, especially in this condition, continues to dwindle. Tack on the fact it's well under a thousand dollars and the value for a watch like this Kelek is obvious.
Take a look at our detailed photos and the condition description below:
Case: 37mm stainless steel case in excellent vintage condition as pictured. The case has only light surface wear and appears unpolished, retaining its original finish with polished chamfers and sharp case lines throughout. Some of the original crown plating has worn off which is visible in the photos. This does not affect the function of the crown.
Bezel: Original bidirectional bezel in excellent condition as shown. The bezel shows minimal wear and bezel action is smooth in both directions.
Dial/Hands: Original gloss black dial in excellent condition free from any blemishes. Any marks shown in the photo are on the crystal, the dial on this watch is in wonderful condition. The hour markers are raised polished steel with tritium lume inserts that have faded to a light patina. Original hands are polished steel also in excellent condition.
Caseback: Original screw back in excellent condition with crisp engravings as pictured.
Crystal: Domed acrylic crystal. The crystal shows moderate scratching but is believed to be original so it was retained on the watch.
Movement: Original Landeron 248 manual wound chronograph movement. The movement is extremely clean and all functions work as they should including chronograph start, stop, and reset. Service history is unknown.
Bracelet/Strap: Vintage stainless steel bracelet in excellent condition with full links to easily fit a wrist up to 8"+
Accessories: None. Sold as watch only.
