Gallet is one of the oldest watchmaking names with its origin tracing all the way back to the 1400s in Switzerland. The family-owned company continued that tradition generation after generation. producing watches and chronographs specializing in various fields, such as aviation, yachting, and for military units around the world, with a large number of major innovations, particularly in the chronograph field, that many watch companies today still use today.
Gallet is perhaps most well known among vintage watch collectors for their chronographs like the watch pictured here. The Multichron line were intended to be used as tools for military, industrial, and various other applications. The telemeter and tachymetre scales on this watch are proof of the watch's usefulness as a tool. Gallet also focused on legibility; the large luminous indexes and white hands and dial printing are easily readable against the matte black dial color. The case has a slim bezel, allowing for more room for a proportionally larger dial, and the large pump pushers make chronograph operation easy. The watch is powered by the reliable Landeron 149 movement with a 45 minute counter complete with payphone-timing markers and running seconds.
This watch is an excellent example of a collectible chronograph that ticks all the boxes, from a razor sharp unpolished case to the killer patina on the large tritium hour markers.
Take a look at the detailed photos and the condition description below:
Case: 36mm stainless steel case in excellent vintage condition as pictured. The case shows light surface swirls and scratches but is clearly unpolished and has very sharp lug chamfers. Crown and pushers also appear original and are functioning properly.

Caseback: Original screw back in very good condition with some tool marks. All engravings are crisp as pictured and the inside is signed Gallet & Co..
Crystal: Domed acrylic crystal with some light surface scratching. There are no chips, cracks or crazing in the crystal.
