Instagram is somewhat of a phenomenon in the watch collecting world and really serves as the main social media focus for a vast number of watch collectors. It's easy to navigate and search, and provides a platform for collectors, dealers, and brands alike to showcase what they've got, share knowledge, and even buy and sell through the app. One of the biggest watch-related Instagram followings is the hashtag #speedytuesday, started by Fratellowatches' Robert-Jan Broer in 2012. Every week, thousands of Speedmaster collectors and enthusiasts share their pieces on Instagram for the world to see, and Omega themselves took notice. The Speedy Tuesday limited edition was offered exclusively through an Instagram promotion, where the brand's followers could reserve a "Speedy Tuesday" Speedmasters via a link on Omega's Instagram. It obviously worked, as all 2,012 pieces were reserved in mere hours and the waiting game began.
The Speedy Tuesday was more than just a gimmick through social media, and the design has been regarded as one of the best Speedmaster limited editions ever made. The watch features a fully brushed case finish, unique dial with radial printed (and luminous!) contrasting subdials, and brushed steel hands, in addition to a vintage-styled crown and a special, serialized and engraved caseback.
The watch we have here is a very gently worn like new example, with only very minor wear to the strap. Most of the original accessories are included including the unique leather watch roll with special Speedy Tuesday NATO strap, strap changing tool (the extra spring bars are missing but are standard Omega bars), and #speedytuesday cleaning cloth, which are all unused. The included leather watch roll is housed in a box with an instruction manual, strap changing guide, and serialized certificate of authenticity. Both the warranty and pictogram cards are included, along with the original serialized shipping coffin.
