BNIB Omega Speedmaster Professional Speedy Tuesday Ultraman 311.12.42.30.01.001 - SOLD
Instagram is somewhat of a phenomenon in the watch collecting world and really serves as the main social media focus for a vast number of watch collectors. It's easy to navigate and search, and provides a platform for collectors, dealers, and brands alike to showcase what they've got, share knowledge, and even buy and sell through the app. One of the biggest watch-related Instagram followings is the hashtag #speedytuesday, started by Fratellowatches' Robert-Jan Broer in 2012. Every week, thousands of Speedmaster collectors and enthusiasts share their pieces on Instagram for the world to see, and Omega themselves took notice. The Speedy Tuesday limited edition has been offered exclusively through an Instagram promotion, where the brand's followers could reserve a "Speedy Tuesday" Speedmasters via a link on Omega's Instagram. This year marked the second iteration of the limited edition "Speedy Tuesday" watch, and all 2,012 pieces were reserved in under an hour.
2018's Speedy Tuesday brought back the legend among Speedmasters, the "Ultraman", a super rare small number of 145.012 Speedmasters from the 60s fitted with an orange second hand that came to fame when worn by one of the characters on the Japanese television show Ultraman. The 2018 Ultraman features some very cool throwbacks to the original Ultraman Speedmasters as well as the show from which the watch was discovered. This includes a stepped dial, a signature feature of vintage Speedies. It also has orange indices on the outside of the hour markers, the signature Ultraman orange seconds hand, and a special luminous Ultraman figure in the running seconds register, plus orange details on both the minutes totalizer and the bezel.
The example we have here is a true brand new, unworn example of the Speedy Tuesday Ultraman, and comes as complete of a set as you can think of. The watch comes with its inner, outer, and cardboard shipping boxes. The special Ultraman box includes an additional black leather strap (still sealed) and a UV light/ strap changing tool, along with all of the limited edition paperwork and warranty cards. All stickers are still present, and the crystal sticker was only temporarily removed for photos.
This is a truly new and unworn example of the Ultraman that any Speedmaster enthusiast would be proud to have in their collection.
