Panerai Luminor 44mm PAM590 8 Days R Series - Box & Papers - SOLD
Panerai debuted the North American exclusive model 590 in 2014 and it draws on some of the classic elements we have come to associate with the brand. The watch has the iconic 44mm full size Luminor case which is a bit bolder than the more shapely 1950 case found in other models. The Luminor case is also thinner than in the past and now has a flat sapphire crystal. It's got the signature Device Protecting the Crown, and simple, generously lumed dial. But the watch has some tricks up its sleeves as well, as evidenced by the "8 Giorni Brevettato" or "8 Days Patented" on the dial where the 3 marker usually resides.
Inside is the Panerai P.5000, an in-house manually wound caliber with an 8 day power reserve. Panerai has a long history with 8 day movements, and the 590 is a callback to the old military Angelus-powered Panerais with the same reserve time. The callback is also evident in the Italian Navy "Human Torpedo" engraved in the back as Panerai made watches for the Frogmen.
The dial is a matte black with aged-look lume and is built in a "sausage" configuration, where the hour markers are recessed in the dial plate and the lume is filled in for a flat look like on the Panerai sandwich dials.
This 590 is an extremely clean R-Series example that is ready to wear and comes with the original box, papers, and extra rubber strap.
Case & Bezel: 44mm stainless steel Luminor case with polished bezel in excellent condition as pictured. Case and bezel show only light wear.
Dial/Hands: Original black dial with polished hands free of any blemishes with outstanding lume.
Caseback: Original solid steel caseback in excellent condition with all markings and engravings present. Caseback is stamped with an R series serial number.
Crystal: Original sapphire crystal free of scratching.
Movement: Manual wound Panerai in-house caliber P.5000 with small seconds and an 8 day power reserve. Watch functions flawlessly and keeps excellent time. Service history is unknown.
Bracelet/Strap: Excellent condition original Panerai brown leather strap with original buckle. The OEM black rubber strap pictured is also included.
Accessories: The watch comes as a complete set including the box, both certificate and user manual booklets, strap changing screwdriver, plastic watch protector, and original rubber strap. The outer cardboard box is not included.
