Vintage 1972 Rolex Datejust Ref. 1601 Pie Pan Sigma Dial - SOLD
Here we have a great example of the legendary Rolex Datejust, reference 1601. The Datejust is a timeless classic that embodies versatility, style, and quality. This watch features an original "pie pan" stepped tritum dial combined with an SS case and yellow gold fluted bezel in excellent condition.

Case: 36mm stainless steel case in excellent vintage condition as pictured. The polished case sides are bright and the brushed lugs are thick and crisp with only minimal surface swirls. There are no major blemishes on the case. Crown screws down securely. Serial and reference numbers are both visible. Serial is 3.6 million, dating production to approximately 1972.
Bezel: Original yellow gold fluted bezel with sharp, deep flutes in excellent condition as pictured.
Dial/Hands: Original "pie pan" stepped silver dial with raised gold markers and intact tritium with a lovely patina. The dial is a Sigma dial indicating hands and markers made of gold. Hands are also original in excellent condition with matching tritium patina. The date wheel is also original with open 6's and 9's.
Caseback: Original caseback in very good condition as pictured.
Crystal: Domed acrylic crystal in like new condition. There are no deep scratches, chips, or cracks in the crystal.
Movement: Rolex caliber 1575 automatic movement with hacking. The movement is in excellent condition and keeping great time. All functions work as they should including instant change date at midnight. Watch was just serviced in October 2020 by our watchmaker.
Bracelet/Strap: New brown leather strap with steel buckle as pictured.
