1994 Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Ref. 3590.50 - Cal. 861 - SOLD
The Omega Speedmaster Professional is arguably the most important watch ever made, and its importance and timeless design have made the made the Speedmaster a staple for collectors. We're pleased to offer this excellent example of a transitional 1990s Moonwatch.
What makes these watches transitional? In the 1990s, Omega went through a period of changes to the Speedmaster Professional in a relatively short amount of time. The newer six digit model reference was put into place, with the Speedmaster receiving designation 3590.50 in 1989, powered by the 17 jewel caliber 861 movement which was now yellow gold plated. The Caliber 861 also received an 18th jewel on the coupling wheel, but was still marked as "Seventeen Jewels" on the chronograph bridge. This quirk changed with the introduction of the Caliber 1861 with the model 3570.50 in the late 90s, making the 3590.50 the last Speedy Pro to feature the caliber 861.
The Moonwatch offered here is in very good condition and retains all of its key original components including a beautiful tritium dial with very attractive and even patina on the hour markers. It's a great, wearable example of these last 861-powered Speedmasters.
