The Speedmaster has everything going for it that enthusiasts look for. Timeless design, great proportions, maximum functionality, and the best history and pedigree behind any timepiece. The one drawback, especially recently, has been price. As Omega moves upmarket, the Speedmaster has been an unfortunate casualty for budget minded collectors, with the 2014 price increase driving up the prices of both new and pre-owned pieces. However, sometimes bargains can still be found, and that's why we're happy to pass on the bargain that is this 1979 Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. With a 39M serial dating the watch to 1979, some great wabi-sabi and a perfectly matching vintage styled rally strap, this watch is ready to strap on and look great on your wrist.
Condition can be seen in the photos and as follows:
Case: The case is in very good vintage condition with typical signs of wear including surface scratches and minor nicks.
Bezel: Original tachymetre bezel faded to a charcoal color. The bezel shows some wear on the painted surface as shown.
Dial/Hands: Original dial and hands. The dial markers have faded to a dark patina missing in some spots. The hands have matching patina with no missing lume.
Caseback: Moonwatch commemorative caseback. Paint is pissing from the text common with watches from this era. Marked 145.022-78ST.
Crystal: God condition OEM Omega crystal with embossed logo in the center. There are no deep scratches, chips or cracks.
Movement: Original cal. 861 17j manual wound chronograph movement with all functions working as they should. Chronograph starts, stops, and resets to zero as it should. Movement keeps good time. 39M serial number dates the watch to 1979.
Bracelet/Strap: Like new vintage styled leather style rally strap.
Accessories: None.
