Luxuwrist.com is proud to offer a 1969 Omega Speedmaster Professional pre-moon, reference 145.022-68. This watch has the stepped and applied metal logo 321-style dial and an excellent dot over 90 bezel. This watch was just serviced in June 2015 and is keeping excellent time with all functions working perfectly.
Condition is per the photos and as follows:
Case: Original case in excellent condition with crisp brushing and bright polished areas on the twisted lugs. The case was not polished during service. There are no significant scratches or dents on the case, only minor wear from use throughout its life. The watch has the original skinny logo Omega crown.
Bezel: Original dot over 90 configuration bezel in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear as shown. There are some scratches and very small areas with missing paint neat the rim but overall the bezel is excellent.
Dial/Hands: Original stepped dial with applied metal logo and hour markers extending to the edge. The lume has flaked off in some areas while the remaining lume has faded to a great creamy patina. The dial is also showing the first signs of turning to that beautiful chocolate “tropical” patina that is so sought after. The hands are original and have also faded to a coffee patina with the minute hand slightly darker. The minute hand is missing some paint at the base as shown in the photos.
Caseback: Original pre-moon seamonster caseback in good condition that shows some wear. All engravings are present and the caseback has not been polished like so many other vintage speedies. Marked 145.022-68 inside.
Crystal: Brand new OEM Omega hesalite crystal in perfect condition. Crystal has the embossed Omega symbol in the center.
Movement: Cal. 861 movement just serviced in June 2015 and keeping outstanding time. All functions work as they should and the chronograph resets to zero. Movement serial number is 27324XXX.
Bracelet/Strap: Omega 1771 bracelet fully linked and should fit up to an 8” wrist. The bracelet is in excellent shape with only minor wear and stretch. The clasp has an engraving of the three Apollo 11 astronauts who walked on the moon and is numbered 123 out of 500. I do not believe this limited series was originally offered by Omega but was done by a dealer or jeweler. Unfortunately we are not able to provide further information on the clasp engraving but it adds interesting character to the watch.
Accessories: None, sold as watch and bracelet only.
